Our needs were straightforward. Our lawyers often need to create documents and to that end they dictate a great deal, often when they are on the move.We became aware that the way this was undertaken by our Lawyers wasn't the best use of their time. They would dictate onto a tape, send it back to our administrators for transcription, review the typed up version, make amendments and, finally, we made it to a finished document.
We felt that there should be a better way and when we saw Tiger Eye Consulting presenting at a business lunch at the Royal Exchange in London we were keen to understand more about how they could help us quicken the process.
Their demonstration was persuasive and we agreed to implement their solutions – using two lawyers to begin with.
A small application was added on the blackberrys of the lawyers, both of whom were perpetually on the move around the world and always needing to dictate. And back at our main office transcription software was installed on four machines on a server.
It now means that the lawyers can dictate into their blackberry; email the completed dictation back to base and our team of secretarial support can immediately pick it up when it comes in and transcribe. They then email it back. It sounds easy and it is. That's the beauty. We are looking to rollout across our whole New York office,
which could be many staff. We are just waiting
for sign off.
The benefits are significant. The process is quicker, mainly because there is no longer any need to transfer actual tapes from the lawyers to the transcription staff. And there are no consumables to worry about from a security or purchasing perspective. In short our business process management has improved.
